You could say something like this:OK, so having read a number of discussions on this question of "se trata de" versus "trata de", I understand that it is technically (according to the DRAE) incorrect to say "¿De qué se trata tu tarea?" (as Gupe points out).
I also see that many native speakers would say it this way regardless, and not, "¿De qué trata tu tarea?".
What I am having difficulty with is, what are examples of the correct use of "se trata de", when meaning, "to be about"? How could we ask this question about the tarea using "se trata", for example?
