To all the horseriders, - lovers, - men and - women, I would like to know if the following expression of equestrian wisdom has a idiomatic translation in English :

À jeune cavalier vieux cheval ; à jeune cheval vieux cavalier.

It basically means an old horse is the best teacher for a novice rider whereas a young horse should only be entrusted to a experienced rider.

My try: give a young rider an old horse but a young horse a mature rider.

    Thanks a mil!

I think that's right, and I also just found green + green = black and blue.
