être avant tout une personne formidable

    Hello, I would like to translate this sentence:
    "Tu es avant tout une personne formidable."
    I thought of :"You are above all a wonderful person."

    It's the "above all", I'm not sure but for a person, it's not better to use "first and foremost".I don't understand the difference between the two.

    "Above all" is perfectly fine here, and your sentence is correct, but it needs commas to offset above all.

    More natural-sounding, I think, would be to use it to begin the sentence:

    Above all, you are a wonderful person.

    First and foremost is more emphatic than above all: La première chose avant toute autre, ...
