être avant tout une personne formidable

Hello, I would like to translate this sentence:
"Tu es avant tout une personne formidable."
I thought of :"You are above all a wonderful person."

It's the "above all", I'm not sure but for a person, it's not better to use "first and foremost".I don't understand the difference between the two.
Thank you !

Hello Toufou, and welcome to the WR Forum!

"Above all" is perfectly fine here, and your sentence is correct, but it needs commas to offset above all.

More natural-sounding, I think, would be to use it to begin the sentence:

Above all, you are a wonderful person.

First and foremost is more emphatic than above all: La première chose avant toute autre, ...
