Hello,

Is this word always negative in the sense of shudder, creep s.o . out, etc?

Or can it be positive-- he sings so well; every time I hear him sing I ανατριχιάζω?

I have no context. I learned the word from the dictionary-- hence the question. The WR definitions makes it sounds like the word is only valid in a negative/scary context. I'm asking if it can be used in a positive context. Thank you.

I'm not sure, but in the following example (source: Ανατριχιάζω Στιχοι • Lyrics Κορκολής Στέφανος), ανατριχιάζω seems to be caused by a positive feeling:

όταν σε κοιτάζω
και πως τρομάζω
μη μ’ αφήσεις ποτέ

Yes, it can. Here's another example:ανατρίχιαζε το σώμα της κάτω από τα χάδια και τα φιλιά.
But as you can see in these dictionaries it's mostly used in a negative context: Παράλληλη αναζήτηση
