περιλαμβάνω, συμπεριλαμβάνω

What is the difference between these two? They both seem to translate into English as "contain" or "include". Are they synonyms or is there a subtle difference?

Roughly, they are synonyms. In a more careful communication, one should be aware of a subtle difference of συμπεριλαμβάνω, which is that "I add sth more to the already existent".
