כדאי

  • I just have to say "worthwhile" is never really that great of a translation for כדאי. I'm not sure why dictionaries list it...

    "Worthwhile" means "worth the time/effort/money you expend on X".
    "כדאי" means something like "it would be a good idea to..." but slightly more authoritative.
     
    So, would כְּדָאִי לִרְזוֹת mean "It's worthwhile to lose weight."?
     
    I agree with ks20495 'worthwhile' is a bad translation.
    More natural locution would be 'you should lose weight' or 'you ought to lose weight'.
