Is "worthwhile" an adequate translation?

I just have to say "worthwhile" is never really that great of a translation for כדאי. I'm not sure why dictionaries list it...

"Worthwhile" means "worth the time/effort/money you expend on X".
"כדאי" means something like "it would be a good idea to..." but slightly more authoritative.

Why, if כדאי is used as an adj. (with a stress on the last syllable), worthwhile could be an adequate translation: worthwhile investment etc.

In the Mishna it means "deserve", eg: "כדאי הוא רבי שמעון לסמוך עליו" (Rabbi Shimon is deserve to be trusted, to rely upon him).

I agree with ks20495 'worthwhile' is a bad translation.
More natural locution would be 'you should lose weight' or 'you ought to lose weight'.
