الفصحى و العامية

Hello everybody, i have this little doubt about الفصحى and العامية.

I was told that الفصحى is the name for MSA (Modern Standard Arabic) and that العامية is the name for the Colloquial Egyptian Arabic.

Is is true?

    regarding 3amiyya you are right. But I am not sure that fusha is exactly MSA, though it is a high Arabic. Fusha is also a word used to describe Classical Arabic (the language of the Qura'n), which many scholars distinguish from MSA, but to be honest, I cannot tell what is the difference between MSA and CA (Classical Arabic). It seems to me they are exactly the same!. I hope my answer is still relevant.
     
    MSA and CA may differ in terms of vocabulary, but the grammar and structure is more or less the same.
