In the proposition القصة مما يحير العقول (the story baffles the minds), what means مما ?
can you write the whole sentence?
The whole context :
و قصة اعتزاله و كبره مما يحير العقول و لعل الخيال أو الاغراض قد اشتركت في إنشائها
(excerpt from Nagib Mahfuz )
مما here is an abbreviation for من ما which is equal to مِن الذي\التي
And farther ? What is the purpose of مما in that context ? Without this مما , does the phrase become wrong ?
It's as if you're saying: his story is one of the things/stories that...; in short: his story is one that...
Separate names with a comma.
