Hi

In the Hadith المؤمن غر کریم والفاجر خب لئیم do we have الطباق or المقابلہ from the point of view of البلاغہ?

  • Aren't three pairs of words being constrasted?

    المؤمن - الفاجر
    غر - خب
    كريم - لئيم

Believers in general, just like in English
The believer... or more common in English
A believer... the لام is laam al-jins

I think in English translation we have to say "a believer", i.e. "the believer that I have typified in my brain when I say this".

    اَلْمُؤْمِنُ غِرٌّ کَرِیْمٌ وَالْفاجِرُ خَبٌّ لَئِیْمٌ

A believer is inexperienced in affairs [and] noble, and a wicked person is very deceitful [and] ignoble.

I have seen both in English translations and even If I prefer "a believer" I don't think that "the believer" is wrong. Maybe someone else can comment on this.

    I found this

The Definite Generic refers to the Prototype of a species, roughly the image we associate with tiger. The tiger, as a prototype, has all the properties of anything we would call a tiger, except that it doesn't exist in an individual physical sense, like all real tigers do. This is a very abstract concept, and its use signals that the speaker is theorizing.

The tiger is big means the speaker believes that "bigness", in some comparative context, is a characteristic property of tigers, that we should expect this to be true of any tiger.

Why did you insert “and” in your translation? كريم is the attribute of غر and لئيم is the attribute of خب.

    They are نعت and منعوت.

No, they are not. There is no نعت in either sentence.

    This is the إعراب:

As for adding “and”, English works in a different way and you need “and” to complete the sentence.

    المؤمن - الفاجر
    غر - خب
    كريم - لئيم

You are right, I was thinking مبتدأ وخبر, but it’s actually مبتدأ وخبران. It is طباق.
