Would anyone please tell me the translation of عوارض سماوية?
This term is mentioned in a book entitled ما لا يسع التاجر جهله by Abdullah al-Muslih and Salah al-Sawi.
الوحدة الثانية

العوارض: ما يطرأ على الإنسان فيزيل أهليته أو ينقصها أو يغير بعض أحكامها.

عوارض سماوية: هي التي لا دخل للإنسان في إيجادها.
Thanks in advance

    Acts of God.
Act of God: In legal usage throughout the English-speaking world, an act of God is a natural hazard outside human control, such as an earthquake or tsunami, for which no person can be held responsible. (Wikipedia)

Thank you very much. I thought of this term but "act" does not have the meaning of عارض.

I don't think that act of God is intended here. Generally speaking an act of God refere to material damages while عوارض سماوية is something that relates to human beings such as mental illnes, dementia, sleep, forgetfulness etc. I don't know what it's called in English but it has to do with legal capacity removed due to factors outside human control

My first impression was like yours but I think that Act of God is آفة سماوية

The term used in fiqh books is آفة سماوية as far as I know. قضاء has a broader meaning including آفات and everything else.
