Hey guys,

I was wondering what the difference between مُلْحِق and مُلْحَق is and which one is better here?

فلما فرغ من السورة الثانية قال اللهم انا نستعينك ونستغفرك ونثني عليك الخير كله ولا نكفرك ونخلع ونترك من يفجرك اللهم إياك نعبد ولك نصلى ونسجد واليك نسعى ونحفد نرجو رحمتك ونخشى عذابك ان عذابك بالكفار ملحق

Given that أَلْحَقَ means 'to join to/unite with another', it can only be مُلْحَق. Observe:

وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَانٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَا أَلَتْنَاهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَيْءٍ ۚ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ (21)

Both are possible meanings but the narration is known with ملحِق and it is preferred.

See this from الزاهر في معاني كلمات الناس:

قال أبو عبيد: الرواية: ملحِق، بكسر الحاء، معناه: إنّ عذابك لاحِقٌ؛ يقال: ألحقتُ القوم، بمعنى: لحِقت القوم. وكذلك أَتبعتُ القوم، بمعنى: تبعتهم.

So it means the same thing as لحق in آخَرِينَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا بِهِمْ even though it's from the fourth binyan?
