二月二龙抬头

I was recently watching a video in Chinese where someone mentioned "二月二龙抬头". Is the second 二 here representing the day? (二号，二日？) Is it common to omit the character 日 or 号 for certain dates or festivals? (Does it have to do with the fact that it is (I am assuming) a date in the Chinese calendar 农历?)

It is the case for some festivals. I don't think there is a general rule for this.

正月十五 ～ 元宵节

七月七 ～ 七夕节

八月十五 ～ 中秋节

九月九 ～ 重阳节

My family uses 八月十五 as an alternative for 中秋节 the mid-autumn day. I don't know however, if other families would say, 你们八月十五出去玩吗？

It will sound weird to say X月X for other festivals.

Very likely! It is a traditional festival based on Chinese lunar calendar. No one would say 农历二月初二号.

I didn't realize that there were so many similar ones! (which also omit the character 日 or 号)
