Hi, What's 形もなくて supposed to mean in this sentence?

まだこの地球が形もなくて、水しかなかったときのことです.Source

Is that supposed to be a verb? Judging from the kanji, to take shape or something...perhaps.

Thanks.

Katachi ga nai, from nai (naku) = (that) has no shape
Katachi mo nai = (that) does not even have shape
... mo nakute : in composition with another subordinate (and there was no water).
Maybe Flam will have look at this and surely come up with a better academic explanation.
