Hi,

According to Collins Dictionary's Japanese-English section, 抑制 expresses suppression of emotions, whereas 抑圧 expresses suppression/oppression of someone by force.

I did some research to see them in a context, and it seems that I got my words right. On the other hand, every now and then, I saw them used interchangeably. To be honest, I see this with most words that are closely related to each other in terms of meaning, with subtle differences between them. What should I do with such words? Should I stick to the beaten path?
