Hi all,
I was watching a movie in putonghua. I didn't understand something that happened in the scene. As a lady was walking out of a courthouse, several reporters rushed to her asking her for the truth “请告诉我们事情的真相”. The lady didn't say anything. Instead, her lawyer offered this:

To be honest: 我不明白。 Can someone please explain the riddle? Thanks in advance.

This is an endless story coz it keeps going like “曾经有个山,山里有个庙,庙里有个大和尚和一个小和尚。

so what the lawyer meant is "we can't tell you anything" in a funny way~

haha, this comes from something that most of the chinese have experienced in their childhood. The child asks the mother to tell a story before sleep, and the mother doesn't have the patience to create one, so she will usually tell this story.(I'm sure every chinese mother knows this)The original version is like this.

my grandparents used to tell me this story 。 and it kept going on and on lol

i just figure out probably they have nothing to say; luckily i got myself a children's book called 'ten big goose eggs'.

It has the meaning that :“外界的环境对事物是有影响的,但并不是绝对的(“Wàijiè de huánjìng duì shìwù shì yǒu yǐngxiǎng de, dàn bìng bùshì juéduì de)

The external environment has effects on the things and human, but it is not absolute.</SPAN>
