Hello guys,

Context:
Kagura:

Kagura asked God one wish... Can I translate 自分勝手にお願いしただけなんだから as: It was so selfish of me to ask that to him?
I have this English translation: I only decided based on my feelings of wanting Kenta and I to fall in love with each other.
So I asked God for a wish...

What do you think? Someone has another suggestion?

  • I would translate it as "I just selfishly asked God." Or, more liberally, "I asked God; I know it was selfish of me."

If I translate "神様に自分勝手にお願いしただけ," it would be "I just made a wish to God selfishly."

How about "I just made a wish to God. Just for ME."?

Well, as for me, "自分勝手に" might look like an abbreviation of "自分が勝手に" (自分が一方的に: unilaterally) in the case. This does not affect the meaning so much, though, I feel "selfish" is a bit exaggerated in any way.
