Hi!
I hope someone can help me understand the following phrase: 萬本の銀の針.
It appears in a short story I'm reading. I'm guessing that 萬本 is a proper name and as such is a reference to something or someone else. If it is, does anyone know what it's refering to?

The full sentence is:
萬本の銀の針で全身を突かれるが如くに肌を刺す寒気。

    萬 is an old letter for 万 (ten thousand),　本 is a counter for stick-shaped things.

    So, it means "like tens of thousands of silver needles"
     
    Shall we go ahead and translate the whole phrase?

    I propose: a cold chill which pricks the skin like ten thousand golden needles

    Cold piercing air to my skin like tens of thousands of silver needles
    piecing me all over my body.

    針は　一本、　二本　と数えます。
