~次第だ/次第で

台風の影響で交通機関の運行が亂れたため、商品のお屆けが遅れた次第です。(...so the delivery was late.)
以上のような次第で、來週の社員旅行は延期にさせていただきます。(Because of the above situation...)


Based on these two examples, can I say that 次第です can mean both "because" and "so"?

I know there are other usages as well. But I just want to focus on the usage related to "reasons".

    You can, perhaps. A method I am more comfortable is to find an equivalent in Japanese. Voilà, わけ can fit in to both your sentences.
