Is it OK if I right "for about" instead of "almost" in #2?

    Be careful though, as "for about" is not the same as "almost". "Almost" means it didn't quite reach 100 years, whereas "for about" means it was close to 100 years long, maybe a few years short, but also maybe a few years more than 100.
