Which of the following sentences is correct: 1. "'Hot' and 'cold' are the opposite of each other" or 2. "'Hot and 'cold' are opposites of each other"? The main question is whether the singular, 'opposite', or the plural, 'opposites', is grammatically correct in this particular context?
