Hi,

How do you say if a shooter shoots the ball but instead of aiming at the hoop he blasts the ball to the board and bounces it in?

And what if he was aiming the ball at the hoop but he missed the target, the ball hit the board and luckily bounced in?

I know Tim Duncan is famous for this kind of shot. It ain’t pretty but it’s two points.

    The confusing word here for me is "blasts." The word is inappropriate for controlled shots with the intention of getting the ball through the hoop. A "layup" is a very gentle action.

    A "bank shot" as lablady suggests is a controlled shot where control is more important than velocity.

    Many, many shots from the field hit the backboard first with or without the intention of the player taking the shot.
