A beautiful woman she was ['a' needed?]

I wonder if I need an article in the following sentence with inverted word order:

A beautiful woman she was.

In my opinion, I do, since the sentence with direct word order would be "She was a beautiful woman".

Thanks in advance.

The inversion itself is a bit strange as it stands. Something like: "And a beautiful woman she was, too!" would work for me as a way of emphasing something that's gone before.

The other suggested alternative "A beautiful woman was she" is reminiscent of an old-fashioned or poetic style of writing: I wouldn't expect to see it used in everyday modern English.
