I want to express, that people don't have a big celebration for a former big event anymore.
But this sentence sounds so clumsy, doesn't it?

How could I express that in a better way? They used to celebrate more. ...

    Any suggestion would be welcome!

    is it possible to say:

...people don't celebrate this former big event the way they used to do it.

    English - US
We need some context. What does "former big event" mean?

    Erntedankfest - in Germany.
It used to be celebrated very much, but almost isn't celebrated nowadays.
That's what I want to express in a decent sentence........
