Which sentence below is acceptable and correct?

I used a bit water to clean my shoes.

I used a bit of water to clean my shoes.

In my opinion, I think the first one sounds colloquial and idiomatic, it's used in informal speaking sometimes.

    I never hear the first structure, not even in colloquial/informal speech - but English is not uniform: perhaps it can be heard in some places. The second one is standard and correct.
