    English - England
What's the Russian equivalent of this English idiom?

I think there is no Russian equivalent, i.e. parallel idiom, just translation - внезапное напоминание о прошлом оr something like that.
There is a set expression эхо прошедшей войны, but is has too narrow sense. Maybe you can also say эхо из прошлого, but it has a tinge of sorrow.

It was American movie with such name. It was translated as "Взрыв из прошлого".

That movie appeared in 1999 and its title was the idiom, already known in 1990. And in Russian взрыв из прошлого is not an idiom.
