When we use words like bag or box to describe a certain amount of stuff, should the verb match the amount of bag or box instead of the noun after them?
(1). A box of apples is in the corner.
(2). A box of apples are in the corner.
(3). A bag of books is on the desk.
(4). A bag of books are on the desk.
And I think sentences (1)and(3) are right. Do you agree?
