a brain freeze

Is it acceptable to say, "I got a brain freeze after drinking the slurpee too fast"? I think it is acceptable because it is ok to say, "I have a big headache." What do you think?

Wikipedia dates the first use of "brain freeze" to 1991. It doesn't appear in my dictionaries. That means you're trying to chart waters the language nuts haven't explored yet :)

Google shows a slight preference for "got brain freeze" over "got a brain freeze". I myself prefer the former as well, for whatever that's worth. But I would say either one is acceptable.
