The original sentence : "He was an errie sight, a bundle of rags standing at the end of the stairs, his shadow on the wall looming over him."

Hi everyone ;

I understand the sentence as below;

He was an errie sight and a bundle of rags that(who) was standing at the end of the stairs...

Am I right?

Thanks in advance

    He is the bundle of rags, the bundle of rags is him. "bundle of rags" is a description of him.
