a chapter in a/the book XXX

    "This text is an edited version of a chapter in a/the book XXX." If a sentence is phrased this way, i.e. the title of the book is given, the definite article 'the' should be used before 'book' - am I right?

    Yes, but since it has to be a book to have chapters 'the book' is redundant.
