In English we have this expression to describe when somebody is highly influenced by the sentiments of their time. In relation to Thatcher that means... I don't know... a certain disregard for the poor, a pugnacious spirit, a money orientated outlook on the world.

I'm not looking for a german equivalent to Thatcher, but in general a translation for 'a child of one's time' perhaps or 'a product of the age'...

    thanks for any help guys.

In German there's the same expression:

"Er/sie ist ein Kind seiner/ihrer Zeit."
