A clear example of such translation

Does "translation" refer to "transition from A to B"? (**)

*A stands for "the relative health of the circumstances of a pseudopatient’s life"
*B stands for "the diagnosis"

Thanks in advance

As far as I can determine, diagnoses were in no way affected by the relative health of the circumstances of a pseudopatient’s life. Rather, the reverse occurred: the perception of his circumstances was shaped entirely by the diagnosis. A clear example of such translation is found in the case of a pseudopatient who had had a close relationship with his mother but was rather remote from his father during his early childhood.
