‘Then he is envious, covetous, jealous and mistrustful, timorous, sordid, outwardly dissembling, sluggish, suspicious, stubborn, a condemner of women, a close liar, malicious, murmuring, never contented, ever repining.’
Christian Astrology book - William Lilly, ‎David R. Roell

What is meant by "a close liar"?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I guess you are right. The first edition is for "1647", but this edition is for 2004-5.

A lot of historical texts are out of copy right and free for anyone who wants to publish them online in the hopes of making some sales. Amazon in particular will reprint things without giving you the original date of publication.

We've certainly had people on here with queries about obscure 19th century texts resurrected by Amazon.

It's cool having scholarly access to old books but often they are of limited use for general use or information.

It is always useful to ascertain an original publishing date by Googling the author.
