A colourful up-and-down

    Hi. This is the complete sentence:
    She was dressed in a colourful up-and-down.

    ...Can anybody tell me what kind of garment an up-and-down is, or how it translates to Spanish? We're talking about an African woman, which might be relevant or not (she doesn't necessarily dress traditional clothes).
