Please, can a native english speaker check the following senstence? If wrong, please suggest an aleterative....

A comprehensive understanding of all the variables affecting detector sensitivity is far away

    Yours is understandable, or one could say "is a long ways away." However, the first part of the phrase is highly technical scientific writing whereas the end of the sentence is rather informal. Can you say something more precise, such as "requires further research/ is beyond the scope of the work"

    Also, please make sure your thread titles describe your question. A better title would be: "A comprehensive understanding is far away" or "is far away"
