The big bang theory SEASON 01, EPISODE 13

Imagine Spock’s dad in a little room with a copy of pointy ears and shapely rears.

If I were Howard I would use a pair of instead a copy of due to the fact that the two ears originally belongs to Spock's dad and still do.
They were not a copy by any means. Right?

It depends on the context. "Pointy Ears and Shapely Rears" could be a humorous title of an 'adult' magazine for Vulcans. If that's the case, "copy" would make sense: we talk of a 'copy' of a magazine.
