"a couple of months down the line" vs. "a couple of months later" <-----Topic added to post by moderator (Florentia52)----->

What is the difference between the two?
What does "down the line" mean or emphasize on?

Please give us the complete sentence in which you would use the phrase, and explain the situation in which you would say it.

This was my notes taken from some video I've watched recently and I lost the source and the context.
Did my search in the web history yet found nothing.
All I can remember is it is a video about a schoolgirl narrating her life with crucial events or something.

I am wondering if you could explain the situation in which you would use "down the line" instead of "later"?

    Thanks!
