a distinct possibility for/of The Stock Exchange ...

Could you help me fill in the following sentence in the proper way:

There is distinct possibility....the Stock Exchange...
a) of/crashing
b) for/to crash

For me B is the right answer but I 'm not quite sure and I don't know how to explain it...

    Hello, bompart. :)

I agree disagree with you. I don't know how to explain it in grammatical terms, but my AE ear is accustomed to hearing "distinct possibility of" as a set phrase.

EDIT: I don't agree. I disagree, as I proceed to explain. Sorry for my confusing post. :(

To be clear, my post above, which I have now edited, disagrees with you, bompart. I agree with Beryl.
