A doctor cures a patient of his/her illness.

A doctor cures a patient's illness.

Which sentence should I use? Thanks.

  • Most teachers and editors do not like "his/her" in sentences in normal prose*. Outside of that point, I can't advise you without some context and information about what you're writing and trying to say.

*I can't tell if you mean to put in both or just one.
