Hi,

I just found a sentence:

This new biography provides a fascinating amount of the adventures of one of our most intrepid explorers.

The source is Cambridge International Dictionary of English.

Can I delete "the" in "the adventures"?

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you have copied this correctly? It looks as though it should be "account" (story), not "amount" (quantity).
If it is "account", "the" is required.
If it really is "amount", "the" isn't needed, but it would be a very strange sentence, because the idea of an "amount of adventure" is a bit odd.

    Thank you very much, Edinburgher.

As you saw it, it's my mistake: account is the word written in the dictionary.

    Thanks again,
