    It's a figurative use - something like "destilar poco a poco"

    en el contexto podria ser algo como ir desapareciendo poco a poco?

    The sense is more bajando than desapareciendo I think. The sound might not stop entirely - but, if you have more context that suggests it does stop, then desapareciendo seems fine.
