A fresh bite, but certainly not too bitter

Hi everybody,

I'm translating a text which describes the taste of a beer and one of the sentences says: "a fresh bite, but certainly not too bitter" and I don't know how to translate the expression "fresh bite". Does it mean "a bière qui a du mordant / du caractère" or something else ?

Thank you.
