Hi there, I was just wondering if the following expression is correct. Say that you are looking at a very gloomy picture, like a bare tree and the moon behind it, and you say something like: "the moon was giving that picture a very gloomy note", is this correct and does it make sense?
thank you

Hi Beryl from Northallerton thanks for that, yes it sounds better. I thought that you could "give a xxxx note to something", although I couldn't find any reference to it though
