My father decided to close his company, a decision over which he and my grandfather had a huge argument.

Hi,
How furious is a huge argument in the above? Does it amount to a heated or furious argument? Thanks.

A "huge" argument indeed suggests a very heated argument.

It is also perhaps worth noting that "huge" in this sentence sounds very colloquial--at least to me.

I agree, a huge argument= a heated argument...There was a lot of yelling, and tempers were flaring
