a huge sum in diamonds

Hi,

I read the following sentence in a Chinese-English dictionary:

He has gotten away with a huge sum in diamonds. (dict.cn:huge sum)

Does this sentence mean "He ran away with a huge sum, but the money is not paper ones, it's diamonds.)
