A little/bit higher

Hello everybody

Some police officers are training to shoot at a target. After they are done, their trainer says to one of them:
If you had pointed your gun a little/ a bit higher (or lower) , your score would be better.
(I mean some of his shots didn't get a good score.)
Which one is correct in English? a little or a bit ?
