Can one say
a. I remember a similar event a long time ago.
b. I remember a similar event long ago.

instead of
c.I remember a similar event that happened a long time ago.

The sentences are mine.

I use (c), but it seems to me that the other two are fine. They are less wordy too.

    Hi, azz. I generally agree with your thoughts on the topic. I'd rather see "from long ago/from a long time ago" or something else that helped me understand that the event, not your memory, happened a long time ago.

    I agree that, with that little adjustment to b., all are fine.

    b. I remember a similar event from long ago.
