A metaphor for something complex

Hi, guys! I'm writing a profile of someone and I wish to express in words how complex a person she is. What could be a great metaphor to use that is mainstream in nature, something people regardless of race, time, or gender could understand?

Something like: She is as complex in nature as a XXXX

Thanks, all!

I guess the cliché would be "universe".

She is as complex in nature as the universe.

I think this is a simile, and not a metaphor. :)

Oh yes pardon me, definitely a simile I'm looking for.
Thank you for that, perpend, but I'm finding the universe quite a bit cheesy for the kind of article I'm trying to write. I am thinking of going with "she is as complex as a Van Gogh painting." What do you think?

"universe" is a bit cheesy and cliché, but it's something most people understand.

Does your audience know painters? I'd probably use "... as a Dali painting." :D

In other words, van Gogh's paintings don't seem all that complex.
