What might 'a mom-and-pop bakery' mean?
It wants to say that it's a small (family) business?

Thanks in advance!

I think I work in a "Mom and Pop" bakery :), but I would call it a "family business". The parents own it, and I work directly for the daughter. It doesn't have to be small either. Our bakery certainly isn't, although all the management are related to each other.

Cool and do you know or can you guess the origin of the expression?
I take it that mom is mother but pop?

Mom and Pop are American words for Mother and Father. They are probably said else where, but basically not here, where we say Mum (or Mam) and Dad.
