a more resilient version of ourselves

Hi,

I'm watching the course Positive Psychology on Coursera and the professor said that positive emotions help us become "a more resilient, resourceful, connected version of ourselves." I'm having trouble with the use of both the singular and the plural in one sentence here. Does it work?

Thank you!

    Yes, it works.

1 Positive emotions help us become a more resilient [...] version of ourselves.:tick:
2 Positive emotions help us become more resilient [...] versions of ourselves.
3 Positive emotions help us become a more resilient [...] version of ourself.:cross:

In (2) it sounds as though we are each to become several versions.
In (3) it sounds as though we all together share one self (and my spellchecker doesn't like it either).

    You little ripper!

I would have thought that negative feelings or emotions (like negative experiences) would be more likely to help us become more resilient, not positive ones. But who am I to argue with a professor of psychology?:D
