Someone achieved a number of scientific results that became internationally renowned and recognized.

    Ah, sorry. I misread. It feels a bit odd starting with the word Someone. You'd expect a name or something else less vague. I also don't think you need both renowned and recognised. If scientific results are renowned, I'd've thought that incorporated recognised. .
